Created and supported by the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, the one hundred is an awareness and fundraising initiative that celebrates hope in the cancer community. Each year, we honor 100 Everyday Amazing individuals and groups — caregivers, researchers, philanthropists, advocates and volunteers from around the globe whose commitment to the fight against cancer inspires us all to take action.
On August 30, 2011 I cast on a hat. A hat for my nephew that would help keep him warm as he endured chemotherapy after being diagnosed with brain cancer.
On September 8th, I asked my friends a favor. I asked if they would want to knit or crochet hats for children going through treatment. I asked people to send me a hat or two so that we could say thank you to Smillow Cancer Hospital . Not only did people rise to the challenge, in 2015 we are still donating hats.
Thanks to nominations from friends and Family, I have been chosen as one of The One Hundred. This honor is not mine. This honor belongs to every single one of you. All of you that have continued to support us.
I will never have enough words to thank all of you, this is just one small step for PatPat's Hats.
