Many of you may remember our friend Madeline. She was one of our very first hat recipients.
Last week, Maddy's parents took her to Yale Childrens ER because she was running a high fever. After being done with treatment for over a year, Madeline has cancer again. It took the doctors close to a week. She is certainly one of a kind, because she baffled even the best doctors. But they discovered that she has a DIFFERENT form of Leukemia this time. Madeline has not relapsed, she actually has a new cancer in her body. One that will take even more to fight than the last one. She has AML
To Quote Madeline's mom Amie:
We are not accepting any information on prognosis because numbers don't matter to us right now. What we wanted to know is if there is a good chance she can get better, and Dr Joe assured us that there is.
So, why am I telling you this story? Well, of COURSE we want to be sure that Madeline has hats. But more than that, we at PatPat's Hats have always been about spreading warmth, and spreading a message. So lets help LOTS of kids.

Nobody can ever be prepared for cancer. There is no way to prepare. the Guarraia's have three children (Madeline, Juju, and Anthony). Mom and Dad (Matt and Amie) are both teachers.
