Recently, I was reminded about tossing stones into a lake, and the ripples that are created. We were told to "be the ripple."
This moment whisked me back to my childhood. I could never master skimming rocks, that wonderful action where the rocks just fly across the surface of the water, barely making contact. Skimming rocks took the perfect flat rock, I didn't like hunting for the perfect rock for that.
Then there were the big rocks. The ones that made a big "thunk" and "splash" when they hit the water. Those rocks were fun. But they made a big circle ripple, just one.
I preferred to throw a handful of rocks. I was always fascinated watching the ripples meet. All of the rocks would scatter, hit the water in a shimmer, and the water would start moving. Eventually, the small ripples would meet.
You have all become those ripples in the water to me.
We could have just grazed the surface by skimming a rock, we could have been kne big "thunk" , but instead, we have spread out across the pond to ensure that PatPats Hats reaches children everywhere. And for that I am eternally greatful.
