How do you Celebrate?

There are so many reasons to celebrate. Birthdays, Holidays, Graduations. and maybe even a new job. When Cancer comes into your life there are many other things to celebrate. Clean scans, anniversaries of being cancer free, and anniversaries of diagnosis. For people going through treatment you celebrate such basic things.... going back to school for half a day, being able to eat real food, and getting out of the hospital after a long stay.

We started PatPat's Hats to celebrate Patrick. To celebrate his strength, his courage, and his never ending joy of everything that he loves in life. Sprinklers, Minnie Mouse, cupcakes, and music.

Our Journey has introduced us to so many other people that are celebrating the strength and courage of those that have fought cancer, and those that they have lost to cancer. Our friends at Emmy's Heart  do something so simple. They distribute capes and tutus to children going through treatment. Their moto is so Simple..... "Because Every Child Deserves to Fly"

Today Our friends announced the Hero Fund that they have established to honor their son. Henry was a creative ten year old who delighted everyone he met with his sense of humor and compassion for others. He loved science, art and music, and dreamed of traveling to Japan to design video games. His capacity to learn seemed endless, and his aptitude continually tested off the charts.

Henry taught so many about courage and strength.

This summer the PatPat's Hats family will be able to be part of another celebration for so many kids that are currently, or have, battled cancer. We will be sending hats to Camp Rising Sun for the campers to wear during their time at camp. This camp has another simple motto "Where kids with cancer can HAVE FUN, and SMILE." Seems simple right? But to these kids, spending one week where they are not the "cancer kid" could be the best week of their year.

So, how do you celebrate the hero's in your life? Tell us about it on our facebook page.
